Born in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of Edith Marie Quinn (Jennings) and Robert K. Quinn Sr. He grew up in Lynbrook, NY, graduating from St. Agnes Cathedral High School and Manhattan College. Bob served in the National Guard, and after college he began work at IBM, continuing with the company for 47 years in finance and accounting roles. Upon his retirement in 2012, colleagues honored him as an “unflappable” member of their financial reporting team.
In 1963 Bob asked his best friend’s sister, Jane Wagner, on a date. They married in 1967 and for six decades exemplified love for each other, their large extended families, and their community. Bob and Jane delighted in raising their two sons and two daughters together and supporting them in all their endeavors. A Stamford resident since 1975, he coached baseball, basketball, and taught CCD classes in town. Bob was the utmost gentleman and will always be remembered for his thoughtful generosity, quiet wit, sound advice, and devotion to his faith and family.
Bob is loved and missed by his wife of 57 years, Jane; his sons, Robert and James Quinn, and their wives, Lisa and Alison; his daughters, Jennifer Coakley and Jessica Smits, and their husbands, Patrick and Kyle; and his 10 beloved grandchildren, Kiera, Ryan, Laura, Jack, Emma, Molly, Tess, Kate, Ella, and Lily. He is survived by his sister Mary DuPrey, brother William Quinn, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his sisters Virginia, June, and Colleen.
Visiting hours will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer St. in Stamford from 4-7 PM on Sunday, November 3rd. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, November 4th at Church of the Holy Spirit in Stamford followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY.
