On Tuesday, August 30, Katie Karras peacefully passed away at home with her loving family and caregivers at her side. Katie was born on May 14, 1927 in Athens, Greece, and immigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in Stamford, CT. Katie worked for various companies, and retired in 1990 from Clairol, Inc., after 25 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, and loving grandmother. She loved and inspired her children: Peter Karras, Annette Karras Ziboulis and her husband, Emmanuel K. Ziboulis. She also leaves two grandsons, Dean and George, along with many nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece. Katie was predeceased by her husband, George P. Karras, of 54 years, and her four siblings, Gus Chagaris, Peter Chagaris, Demetrios Chagaris, and Effie Chagaris Spanakos. Her loved ones, friends and neighbors will miss her.
Her family welcomes all relatives and friends on Thursday, September 1 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels located at 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Trisagion at 7:00 p.m. A Christian burial service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels on Friday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Harry Pappas and the Very Rev. Fr. George Poulos will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery on Hoyt Street, Darien, CT.
