Janice B. Wolfe, age 83 of Stamford , CT , passed away at Stamford Hospital on Sunday, December 15, 2013 after an acute illness. Born in New Haven CT on October 7, 1930 to the late Henry Brown and Bess (Meltzer) Brown, Janice is predeceased by her sister Hilda Kolbin of Hamden, CT and survived by her four sons: Ricky; Steven; Kerry [and wife Lori] of Stamford; David [and wife Aleta] of Clovis CA. She was blessed with five beloved grandchildren: Adam, Victoria, Ryan, Matthew and Hannah. She attended Rider College in New Jersey from 1948-1950, before meeting her former husband Robert Wolfe, founder of Wolfe’s Cleaners in Stamford, now operated by her sons. Janice moved to Stamford in 1955. Her sons also own Wolfe’s Cleaners North in Stamford , where she loved to work later in life.
Janice had a deep, abiding love for her family and friends and would do anything for them. She enjoyed bowling, Mahjong, watching Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, and her annual trips to Aruba in October. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah. She was a wonderful listener, a truly kind soul, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to her funeral on Wednesday, December 18 at 11AM at the Leo P Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Interment to follow. Shiva will be observed at 180 Glenbrook Road in Stamford , Unit 52 from 5:30-8PM on Wednesday and Thursday, and 10AM – 12PM on Friday December 20.
