Richard Ronald Fontaine

Richard Ronald Fontaine, 65, peacefully left this life Friday January 8, 2021 at Stafford Hospital Center. During his active military service time, he had a variety of career paths, to include fire and rescue, command post controller and after completing his BS degree, search and rescue helicopter pilot. With 20 years of active service, Ric retired from the Air Force. He enjoyed a couple of months of “retirement” then went back to work for the Department of Defense, working again in the area of Personnel recovery, a mission dear to his heart. In his leisure time, he enjoyed yardwork, Lego builds, and taking the family to Disney. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; daughter, Christina Fontaine; grandson, Richard “Trip” Fontaine III; and sister, Michelle Fontaine, and stepmother Deborah Fontaine. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Fontaine II and parents, Ernest, and Barbara Fontaine. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel at 6:30 pm, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service.
