The loss of you is immeasurable and has fundamentally changed me. 20 years of friendship wasn't enough, all the late nights,  phone calls, and trips together weren't enough. But being able to know you, love you, and be loved by you is one of the things I'm most grateful for in this life.

My heart aches for all those who lost you - your family, friends, coworkers, and students. You were such a crucial piece of countless lives. Listening to the words echoed by so many at your funeral absolutely gutted me, but also filled me with so much hope and love it felt like my heart might explode. 

I miss you dude. I just miss you so damn much. The best part of me was always you. And maybe one day this will hurt less, and all those good memories will bring peace again instead of pain. But until then, Rest in Peace Raquel, and May the Force be with you. 

Ms. byrd was amazing science Teacher she always make sure that I was in school in class focused, she even helped me one day stay after school to help me with an English paper. She knew that was my struggle, even though she didn’t teach it she took the time to try and help me no matter what it was.Ms. Byrd will always forever live in my heart. She will always keep me smiling. Her mother raised her to be extraordinary, and that was what she was , Ms. Byrd requested one thing for me and that was to graduate high school when I finally did that she requested that I finish school become a nurse and then from this day forward, I will push myself every day to make her proud and when I get my diploma From becoming a nurse, it was because of her because of her powerful words encouragement. I am the woman that I am becoming today because of her, and she will forever live in my heart.

I will miss your sweet caring presence Raquel.  I will make sure your Mom is ok. Love you Baby Byrd!!💔

From our family to yours, there are no words that can express the depth of sorrow we feel for your unimaginable time of grief. May you find comfort in the love and memories you shared with Raquel. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched.


Thank you for welcoming me to the world of teaching with open arms, Raquel. You were a force to be reckoned with! I am so thankful that you were one of the first people who took me under their wing when I came to Freedom. You will always be an example of compassion, strength, humor, and persistence. Your legacy will always live on. You truly touched the lives of everyone who knew you. 

I remember this first day of school like it was yesterday! We were all so excited for the new school year. My sweet friend, I miss you and your contagious smile and gentle fun loving spirit. Freedom will not be the same without you my love. I’ll cherish the last moments we spoke, 2 days before you gained your wings. Love you forever ❤️

Raquel taught me so much while working together as co-teachers and friends. We would spend hours chatting and bonding while preparing for our students. Raquel cultivated a classroom filled with joy, support, love, and caring for our students. Raquel put forth so much good into the world and I know she is in a place where there is no pain and only peace.  I love you Byrd and I will see you again in the next life.  
To all of Raquel's loved ones please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that you are in my prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Byrd and Family,  we are so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter.   Years ago I watched Raquel and several other children before and after school when my children were little.  I always gave them a snack.  I remember Raquel asking for a bagel.  For some reason that always stuck in my mind because not too many kids ate bagels.  She was always pleasant and respectful.   I remember those days like yesterday.   May God bless you and your family during this difficult time.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.   🙏🏻

Such a Beautiful soul and all around genuine person. She was always willing to listen to what was going on in your life and give the soundest advice from her perspective. All around amazing person.

Raquel was the most welcoming person I ever met. We met in middle school and remained friends throughout high school and to this day although I wish I had stayed in closer touch with her. I’ll never forget studying Latin with her. We both hated that class it was so boring. She was always so positive and joyful her smile and laugh will be missed. Life is cruel to take such a kindhearted person so early. Rest in peace Raquel and I pray for her family to hang in there as best they can.

Such a rare and beautiful soul who touched so many lives and brought so many people together. I consider myself lucky and am forever grateful our paths got to cross. 🩷

Despite not talking to each other much over the years, Raquel left a lasting impression on me and, surely, everyone she's ever met. From the first grade on, she was an unforgettable force. Her impact will not go unnoticed, unfelt.  She will be missed.

I am so sorry about your loss.  Everyone whoever interacted with Raquel saw her light and felt her love.  She was there for everyone even if she didn't know you.  All you had to do was ask and Raquel was there asking what can I do to help.  I keep thinking that I need to reach out to Rachel to get through this time of loss and realize that it her that I can't reach out to anymore.  I will miss her everyday, especially when I come to work and have to work into our classroom we shared and see her space in the class.  It is still filled with her presence. My heart is absolutely shattered. My first friend I made In Stafford when I moved here in the first grade. She made me feel so welcome then and has never stooped making people feel welcome and loved almost 30 years later. Her kindness, her free spirit, her sweet soul will never be forgotten. I was Just talking about her with a friend on Sat the 28th about her awesome success and it’s just devastating to learn this news. I love you Quels. 

She was one of my oldest friends. We loved to remember our times together as Girl Scout Daisies, rode the same bus, and graduated from high school together. Our 15-year class reunion was on the 28th and I had such a wonderful conversation with another classmate about how happy we were to see specifically Raquel seeming so happy and successful recently. I will always be grateful for knowing Raquel’s sweet soul. May she rest in peace. I am praying for her mother, Victoria, and the rest of her family, friends, co-workers, and students. 

You will always be loved in memory and heart. You were truly a living  angel. Forever a part of us...Kendall Pearsall.
