Almost exactly 3 years from now. I miss you and I love you forever. You were always so kind to Flynn and I, and I wish you could see me now. I wish I could still print out birthday party invitations and hand them to you at thanksgiving. I wish I could text you and ask you when I'd see you next. Joseph. I recently learned about Joseph's death and I'm very disappointed with myself. Joseph was a great friend of mine. We would always talk about anything and everything. He was super funny and smart, he was always encouraging others and putting smiles on his face. I remember him passing me my lunch box everyday to go to lunch and I remember thinking, "Joseph so kind, I hope we will always be friends." To think that he passed away too soon really hurts and makes me think life isn't fair. He was super talented, I always thought he was going to go far with life. I remember he would go out in the hallway with his Rubik's cube and everyone would surround him timing him. I will still shock at how he finished it under 30 seconds. Mrs. Goyena she was super kind to me. Every time I went to Kate Waller to do something for his sister. I would always see Mrs. Goyena. Filled with happiness and love. She would make me laugh and smile. Her smile is very contagious and comforting. She would always be like, "I'm going to tell Joseph I saw you." I'm sorry you have to go through this. You are never alone. May God bless you. I miss you Joseph, I'll see you soon.

Joseph is the most loyal person that I've ever met. It's been a month and I still can't wrap my mind around it. I want the Goyena family to know how much he was loved, not just by me, but everyone who saw his smile. He was there for me when no one else was. 14 years was not long enough, and the world will never be the same. I miss him so much that words can't explain. I can't wait to see you again Josepha. 

I’m heartbroken to hear about Joseph’s passing.  I had the privilege of working with Joseph at Barrett for three years.  What a special person he was!  I will always remember him fondly.  I am so sorry.

Hold a spot up there for me. I wish I could’ve stayed in VA. We were becoming best friends back then and I could sure used a friend like you today. May God be with your family during this difficult time. It’s hard to wrap my head around this. Rest in paradise my friend...

        I really wasn't expecting you to go so early. We, your cousins, always look forward to you coming to the Philippines. I am so sorry for your loss of Joseph.  He was a big part of our H.H. Poole family and will be missed.  I have such fond memories of Joseph from math class in 6th grade.  He shared his musical videos with the class.  He was extremely talented!  Joseph was nice, polite, and a friend to all.  He loved the rubik's cube and telling jokes.  His smile was infectious!  He would tell a joke in class and then sit back and chuckle about it.  Then, I would get teased, "come on Ms. Szymanski, you know you want to laugh!"  He was part of a very close group of kids.  For a teacher, he was a great student to have.  He was hardworking and respectful!  I feel very lucky to have had him in my life.  It is with deepest sadness that we say goodbye.  Heaven has gained another Angel!  My heart goes out to you and your family.

Our hearts ache for you and your family. Joseph was so talented, smart, kind, and a good friend to Isaac. 

In remembrance of Joseph, Isaac retold how he was always awed by how fast he solved the Rubik’s cube. Nate recalled Joseph’s flexibility and splits in karate. I remember his beautiful smile and the joy he brought to our lives, from the days of karate, play-dates, and birthday celebrations.

Hey Joseph it took time for my mind to process that you already leave us. I hope you are doin' fine in the other side. I was looking forward for your next visit, watch you play and listen to your magically music. I still remember when you were so fond to learn my favorite piece and ask me to teach you about it. Every memories with you kept coming and flashbacks in my mind. The way you laugh, smile, cry, your never ending stories and questions about little things and random thoughts, the way sleep, you eat and drink even taking shower. Your kuya loves you, you will always remain in our heart.

We are deeply saddened by the very untimely leaving of our dear Joseph. It just came too soon! We vividly remember the times we enjoyed together with him here in the Philippines - his curiosity (the never ending "why" conversations), his contagious laugh, his fondess for funny animal videos on youtube, his first (and now last) LRT ride, and many more.
