Elizabeth, fondly known as Elayne, was born on August 9, 1963, the youngest child of William and Eula Payne. After graduating from TC Williams High School in Alexandria, VA, Elayne became a stay-at-home mom to her children, Stacey Durham II and Jasmine Durham. Once the children were both in school, Elayne began working for Prince William County Public Schools, and stayed there for nearly 20 years.
Majority of her life Elayne was devoted to caring for children, as she worked in the cafeteria, and was a Paraprofessional for children with special needs, both at CD Hylton High School. She took that path one step further, becoming a foster parent with For Children’s Sake, in Fairfax, and housed and cared for dozens of foster children.
Elayne was preceded in death by her father, William, and survived by her mother, Eula; husband, Melvin; children, Stacey, Jasmine and Peter; granddaughters, Ariel, Silver, Ravyn and Phoenix; siblings, Bill, Reggie and Nina; nieces and nephews, Kadysia, Janet, Reggie Jr, Rashonna, Veronica, and William (Little Guy); and pets, Maxi, her dog-ter, and Hemi her grandog.
The Visitation and Celebration of Life will start at 4:00pm on Saturday October 9, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service at 186 Shelton Shop Rd in Stafford, Virginia.
