Funeral Services for Mario Rene Lozano, 60, of Missouri City, Texas will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City, Texas. Visitation including a rosary will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening, July 2, 2014, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood, in Stafford, Texas 77477.
Mario Rene was born on February 25, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Jose H. Lozano and Petra Lozano. His family moved to Stafford during his childhood years where he attended Fort Bend ISD and graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in 1973. Mario Rene attended Alvin Jr. College and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Fort Bend County Ambulance Service in the late 1970’s. While working as an EMT he respected and befriended many Fort Bend County deputies and police officers. He realized that he had an interest in law enforcement and attended Law Enforcement Certification classes and became a reserve officer and then a full time sheriff’s deputy with Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department. Later he worked for the Fort Bend Constable’s Office Precinct 1 until he accepted a position with the HISD police department where he excelled and served as police captain until his retirement.
Mario Rene loved Christmas giving, especially participating in toy drives and delivering toys and gifts to children in need. He loved making people laugh, anything John Wayne, old western movies, and trail riding with Los Vaqueros Trail Riders of Fort Bend in particular, where he even served as a past trail boss.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose H. Lozano, and his nephew, John Eric Carmona.
Mario Rene is survived by his mother, Mrs. Petra Lozano; daughters, Kari Renee Quinn and Juliana Marie Acosta and husband Eric Acosta; grandchildren, Shelby Lea Smith, Sydney Acosta, Ethan Quinn, Alana Acosta, Madeleine Quinn, and John Rene Acosta (JR); sisters, Martha Rosales and husband Paul, Mary Magda Carmona and husband John; brother, Joe Lozano Jr.; niece, Martha Ann Harris and husband Michael; nephews, Jason Carmona, Jeff Carmona and wife Lisa: niece, Jessica Carmona; great nieces, Amber Harris, Alicia Delgado, Ashley Carmona, Roxy Carmona; great nephews, John Donavan Carmona and Peter Carmona; his girlfriend, Norma Mijares; special sister, Shari Perkins (His sister thru kidney transplant, her gift allowed him several more wonderful years of life); and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
