Maria Elena Zapata

Mary went to Dulles High School and then later completed some college at Texas Southern University. She spent most of her professional career working within the childcare industry. She was saved in 1979. From then on she dedicated the rest of her life to God. She helped start a charitable ministry called Amigos de dios. Through this ministry they helped people in Houston, Mexico, and Guatamala. She helped lead many people to God through the ministry and with Bible studies she would have at her house.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, Juana and Juan Soza; her sisters, Rebecca Soza and Ernestine Juarez; her brother, Juan Soza Jr., and her husband Raul Zapata. She leaves behind three sons, Raul Nathan Zapata, Jeremiah Zapata, and John Gabriel Zapata. Mary also leaves behind her siblings, Joe Soza, Alicia Cano, and Gloria Lara, as well as many many other people that knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home from 5-8 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Funeral services will take place in the Chapel of Earthman Southwest Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 am., and laid to rest in San Isidro Cemetery following the services.
