Georgia Elaine Austin

Born on August 23, 1942, in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Elaine was the valedictorian of the Phillis Wheatley class of 1960. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her sons Alan and Michael. Elaine served 34 years with US Customs Service, where she received numerous awards and accommodations as a Field National Import Specialist.

Elaine lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. After retirement in 1998, she opened a Consulting Firm where Scope Imports was her favorite client.

Elaine loved to travel, attend theatrical performances, and live concerts. Motown and Contemporary Jazz were her favorites. She had a passion for community service which lead her to serve as the Phillis Wheatley Class of 1960 Secretary, Harris County Appraisal District Secretary, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church Courtesy Corp, and Count Team.

Georgia Elaine Austin was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.

She is survived by her sons Alan and Michael Williams, her sister Sheila Collette, nephew Jerome Austin and ShaJra Johnson Austin, and her niece Donna Clark and her husband Van.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
