Vinny was a Navigation/Communication Specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 35 years, based mostly in Tampa, and held a private pilot's license. He had an A.S. Degree in Engineering Technology from St. Petersburg College.
He was the son of the late Vincent D. Carnevale and Sara Carnevale, and brother of the late Laurie Carnevale. He is survived by his brother Robert Carnevale and cousins Michael Carnevale (Stephanie) and Barbara Grilli (Lou) and Aunt Sandra Carnevale. He is also survived by step-brother David Magenheimer (Patti) and step-sister Lisa Fuss.
Vinny was born in St. Petersburg and except for several years working in Atlanta and Melbourne, he lived in South Pasadena, Gulfport and Pass-A-Grille. He enjoyed beaches, boating and trips to the Florida Keys. He could fix almost anything, especially electronics. He had a quiet strength and was always there for his two younger siblings. His remarkable tenacity and perseverance saw him through a nearly full recovery after a serious stroke in his early 30s.
He went on to continue an amazing career with the Federal Aviation Administration where he inspected and maintained airfield communication and navigation equipment throughout Florida and Puerto Rico. He vacationed to tropical destinations, attended countless parades and festivals (from Guavaween, to Gasparilla, to Fantasyfest). Most of all, he enjoyed his family and friends. The holidays will never be the same without Vinny’s fabulous homemade cannolis, which became his trademark.
