Warren Harding Branum

By age 13, he was working. Over the years he worked as a farmer, a logger, a wall paper hanger and eventually as a machinist, tool and die operator and night foreman for Aero Precision Engineer until he retired. But his proudest role was that of a soldier.

World War II was the event that changed his life forever. He was in the 843rd Engineering Company of the Army and soon on a ship headed to Europe. He built landing strips in France and Germany before the D-Day invasion. He made life-long friends while in the Army and attended reunions until recently. He was a VERY proud veteran and loved to talk about the war.

After the war he met his future wife at a dance. He married Eva Katterhagen on July 26, 1947 in Browerville, MN. They had six children, Kathy, Dennis, Alice, Chuck, Dan and Lori. They lived on Rose Avenue on the East side for 53 years before moving to Marian Center in Feb. 2014.

Warren enjoyed living at Marian. He loved visiting with everyone and there was always a card game to be had with Leon and Kathleen who live next door!

Warren loved fishing, tinkering with stuff, playing cards and telling War stories. He loved people. He loved his wife, his 6 kids, 7 grandkids, and 4 great grandkids. He loved family reunions and Army reunions.

He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. This amazing, kind gentle man was loved by all and will be greatly, greatly missed.
