Of St. Paul, Minnesota
Don was called home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25th after a short illness. Preceded in death by his Loving Wife of 59 years, Irene; Parents, Gottfried & Agnes; Twin Sister, Lois Tollefson, and Sister, Margaret McNaughton. Survived by Daughters, Judy Ludwig, Diane (Bruce) Peterson & Bobbi (Bill) Lindquist-Linscott; Two Grandchildren, Kim (Pete) Kelzenberg & Brian Ludwig; Two Great-Grandchildren, Brett Donald & Katie Diane Kelzenberg; and Sister, Jean John.
His devotion to his wife and family was demonstrated throughout his life. Don was born in St. Paul on June 11, 1919. He enlisted in the Navy, served on a destroyer in World War II in the Pacific. After serving in the Navy, he worked at International Multifoods for 44 years. He loved to serve the Lord in song and the joy of music was his gift from the Lord. Through singing, Don professed God’s word and love at numerous churches, nursing homes and events throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. At 65, he formed a gospel group called the East Side Ambassadors which later became known as the Glory Road Ambassadors. Don was a living testimony of his faith in Jesus Christ and always led by example and love in his daily life. Don loved fishing and taught his children and grandchildren how to fish. He told many humorous Swedish jokes and stories that we will treasure in our hearts. Don was the ultimate handyman and loved to work building bird houses to give away. There was not one task that Don could not fix.
“Thank you, Dad, for the Christian example you always demonstrated through giving generously of your time and talents, and always showing love, compassion and kindness to all who were fortunate enough to know you. We will miss you very much, but know you are now in your Heavenly Home singing with all the angels.”
