Audrey E. Shannon, age 89 of Anoka, MN passed away December 3, 2017. Audrey was born February 29, 1928 in Council Bluffs, IA. She lived in Council Bluffs until 1966, at which time she moved to Minnesota, eventually settling in Anoka where she worked at Mercy Hospital until her retirement. She lived in Anoka until 2015 when she moved to North St Paul, MN to be near her children.
She grew up on a farm with her 4 siblings, where she learned what it meant to work hard. Yet they played hard as well. In photographs from those days you see her and her siblings dressed in well pressed clothing (they were Thomas kids after all), playing ball or riding bikes. Audrey married and had 5 children of her own. She was a caring mother who would do whatever it took to make sure the family’s needs were met. Once her children were grown, she became a caring grandmother always delighting in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. Once retired she looked forward to the time spent with family on the holidays and during the summer, visits with her sisters and friends and the birth of her great grand children. Until the end her mind was sharp, even as her body was failing. She loved greatly and was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Harry and Josie Thomas; Brother, Wayne Thomas; Sister, Delores Semler; and Grandsons, Kerry Kros, Doug Kros and Mark Kros.
She is survived by her five Children, Michael Shannon, Kathleen Ziegler, Steven Shannon (Wife Susan), Keith Shannon (Wife Lorraine), and Lori Zedicher (Husband Roger); along with six Grandchildren, Janelle Trboyevich, Katrina Sargent, Kelly Masche, Joseph Zedicher, Samantha Zedicher and Daniel Zedicher; and six Great Grandchildren; and two Sisters, Ella Marie Higgins and Janice Falls.
Audrey left us many poems on her passing, here is just one to remember her by
Hush now, please don’t cry
There comes a time when we all die
Just take heed now that I’m at peace
And from my pain I have release.
I will always be watching over you
Our love will always be held true
Don’t you weep now, don’t you mourn
For my heart will then be torn.
Just remember the good times we shared
Knowing that we always cared
I’ve not gone away, we’ll never part
As I will always be in your heart.
