ST. MARTINVILLE - Rocky James Champagne, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Lafayette on May 5, 1954 to Donna Picard Champagne and Henry Champagne, Sr.
Rocky was a kind and humble man whose greatest joy was his family. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to ensuring their well-being, working diligently in the oil fields as a hydraulic technician. His compassionate nature extended beyond his family, as he found fulfillment in coaching little league baseball, leaving a positive impact on the youth he mentored.
Rocky is survived by his son Cory Champagne and daughter-in-law Paris Champagne, his mother Donna Picard Champagne, his brothers Kenneth Champagne (Mona) and Henry Champagne, Jr (Sandy), as well as his cherished grandchildren: Stormi Case, Bentley Champagne, and Alicia Redden, and his great grandchild, Kodi Case
He was preceded in death by his son Coty Champagne , his father Henry Champagne, Sr, and his godchild, Dusty Champagne.
A visitation for Rocky will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:45 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home, 415 E Bridge St, St. Martinville, Louisiana 70582. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service officiated by Fr. Francis Fontenot, Chaplain of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph in Lafayette at 2:00 PM, also at Evangeline Funeral Home.
Rocky will be laid to rest privately at a later date, where he will be remembered with love and fondness by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
