Wendell Tracy Bollinger

Wendell was born on May 18, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the youngest son of Mable and Robert Lee Bollinger Sr. Wendell graduated from McBride High School in 1963, and went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Louis University. He retired from Citigroup Mortgage.

In his free time, Wendell was an avid chess player and enjoyed playing sudoku, cards, trivia, and Yahtzee. He loved to travel and often remarked that Hawaii was his favorite place to visit. He was a sports fan and could often be found watching the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, or Mizzou Tigers. Wendell was an active member of the McBride Alumni Association.

One of Wendell’s greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends sharing stories, playing games, and making memories. He regularly attended sporting events, school plays and musicals, and other activities to support his children and grandchildren. Wendell had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He was kind, thoughtful, loving, and generous, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Wendell was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed immensely.

Wendell is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, children John (Crystal) Bollinger, Matthew Bollinger, Daniel Bollinger, Robert (Jill) Bollinger, Emily Young, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Ruzicka, Rebecca Bollinger and Michael (Bianca) Bollinger, and 10 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Bollinger, brother, Robert Bollinger Jr, and parents, Mable and Robert Bollinger Sr.

A private burial will be held on Friday, November 22 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23 at Kriegshauser Mortuary-West Chapel, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63132, with a visitation at 10:00am followed by a service at 12:00pm.
