Thomas R Waggoner

WAGGONER, Thomas R. 90 of St. Louis on Friday July 15th, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Mae Waggoner (nee Montgomery). He was the beloved son of the late Walter Clarence Waggoner and the late Lula Exie (nee Hasty) Waggoner. Thomas was the loving father of Thomas Eric (Peggy) Waggoner, Walter Dean (JoAnn) Waggoner and Shelly (James) Bailey. He was the dear grandpa of Terry Davis, Summer (Mitch Behnen) Waggoner, Sara (Shane) Bier, Dawn (the late Bob) Gantz, Stacey (Michael “Hoa”) Nguyen, Matthew (Julie) Waggoner, Jennifer (Ben) Sorenson, and Andrea Darr. Thomas was great grandpa of Chase Davis, Gavin Davis, Ellie Waggoner, Kelsie Waggoner, Autumn Behnen, Miranda Behnen, Nathan Bier, Matthew Waggoner, Stephen Gantz, Emily Gantz, Alexander Nguyen, Nicholas Nguyen, Brock Waggoner, Cullen Waggoner, Dryston Waggoner, Alexia Bailey-Gilbert, Elizabeth Darr, Alyssa Woods, Amber Sorenson and Lillian Sorenson. Thomas was the loving brother of Ann “Lizzy”, Robert “Bob”, and the late Clarence “Junior”, Carl, Charles “Chuck”, Hadley, Eleanor “Sissy”, Alfred and Agnes. He was also a loving uncle, great- uncle and friend to many.

Drafted into the U.S. Army on November 13th, 1944, served during World II, in the 106th Infantry, 23rd Combat Engineers, and 333rd Engineers. Obtained the rank of Private First Class and was honorably discharged August 9th, 1946. Thomas on returning from military service he began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad (later to become the Union Pacific Railroad) from March 17th, 1947 until his retirement on June 1st, 1985. Originally employed as a watchman for the railroad 14 years and then as a supervisor of the Reproductive Engineerring Room for 24 years.

Thomas was baptized at Broadway Baptist Church on April 16th, 1961 and moved his membership to the First Baptist Church of Lemay in 1963. He served as a Deacon and a Trustee in the Church. For Thomas his faith and his family were the important parts of his life. May the Master now say unto him, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).

SERVICES: A visitation for Thomas will be offered from 2-6 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd. Lemay, MO 63125. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 10 am on July 18, 2016. Interment with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
