Ronald Durham Parks, age 85, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was born December 2, 1937, to Robert and Marie (nee: Durham) Parks. They have preceded him in death, as has his beloved wife Joyce (nee: Busch) Parks. Ron is survived by his children: Stephanie Valleroy (Greg), Jeffrey Parks (Tracy), Michael Parks; his grandchildren: Danielle Miller (Trip), Michelle Flynn (Tom), Nick Valleroy (Erin), Madison Parks, Joseph Parks, Anna Parks, William Parks (Claire), Emma Parks, Eleanor Parks, Tess Parks; his great-grandchildren: Annette and Ward Miller, Samantha and Madelyn Flynn, Scott Valleroy; and his "best friend" Monty.
Ron was a member of The Gathering. He was a prior member of Clayton Rotary Club. He was president and CEO of R. Durham Parks Associates, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Washington University, and Missouri Baptist University. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Illinois and member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Ron served as a mentor to young entrepreneurs through Forest Park Community College. In his retirement Ron stayed active serving, among other things, as a substitute teacher with the Special School District. He enjoyed painting, sculpting, watching college football, and was a loyal Cardinal fan. Ron was a true optimist, and his smile and personality endeared him to everyone he met. He was dearly devoted to his family - every meal began with a prayer which concluded with "God Bless America, and God Bless our family". In Ron's last years he truly enjoyed living at The Mansions among new and old friends.
Ron's family will host a Celebration of Life Open House for family and friends on October 28th from 1:00-3:00. We will honor Dad’s life at the Mansions on the Plaza where he lived a full and happy life among friends. The address is:
