Beloved partner of Penny Weiss; father of Avian, Brennin, and Linden Weiswerda; father-in-law of Hannah and Nicholas; grandfather of Alma and Zev; brother and brother-in-law of Judy, Carl (Gail), Tom (Donna), John (Arlene), and Laurel (Ken); son of the late Bernice and Alfred; and foster parent, uncle, cousin, friend, and mentor to many.
He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, and taught at Indiana University-Kokomo for 20 years and St. Louis University for 10.
Robert was a philosopher, budding artist, urban hiker, proud Dutchman, amateur historian, avid birder, co-founder of the New Community School, and tireless neighborhood advocate who loved bad puns, decent beer, and good books.
He never lost his readiness to learn about the past and to try something new. His steady spirit was an anchor, home base, and source of strength, love, and kindness for all who knew him.
