WAGNER, Oma (nee: Shanks), a longtime St. Louis area resident died January 6, 2013 at the age of 98. She was born August 4, 1914 in Morehouse, Missouri. She was the daughter of Alpha (nee: Bridgeman) and James Wesley Shanks, both of Morehouse.
Ms. Wagner attended St. Louis public schools until moving to New York City in the 1930's to join the John Robert Powers Modeling Agency. There she met her former husband, Walter Werner Wagner, who preceeded her in death. Together they traveled around the world and lived in several other countries before she returned to the St. Louis area to raise their two daughters. She worked in the medical field providing private duty nursing. For many years she was an administrative secretary.
Ms. Wagner is survived by her daughters; Karyn Marlane Wagner of Montreal, Canada and Winifred Leah Stufflebam of St. Charles, MO; a half brother, James Wesley Shanks, Jr. of Sikeston, MO; a half sister, Iona June Wade of Alton, IL and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters preceded her in death: Elizabeth Hubick, Francis Osmeloski and Velma Santonocito.
SERVICES; Visitation at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa @ Watson in St. Louis, MO on Thursday, January 10 from 1 until 3:30 PM. The burial will be in Sikeston, MO at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on Friday at 2:00 PM.
