Mary was the devoted wife of the late Russell Smith; cherished sister of Cathy (Mitch) Kays and Susan (Dio) Maranan; beloved aunt of Meghan (John) Moore, Ashley (Brian) Hahn, Nick Maranan, and Brenden Maranan; dear great-aunt of Murphy Moore and Thomas Hahn; and a dear friend to many in her lifetime.
Mary was very involved in many charities, including Fisher House and Red Cross. She was a very giving person of her time and talent, and put others first.
Mary was an avid reader. She loved music and Star Trek. She loved to sew and needlepoint. She was a huge Mizzou fan! She and Russell would take day road trips just to see someplace new. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Mary was funny and a great storyteller. Everyone will miss her elaborate yarns.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 21 from 4-8pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street 63109. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 22 at 10am at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, 6596 Smiley Avenue 63139. Interment Mt. Zion Cemetery, Addieville IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory to the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's order) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated by her family.
