It is with the very deepest sorrow that our family announces the passing of Linda Kay
Martignon (nee Svehla).
Beloved Daughter of Carolyn Simpson (nee Gavett) and Martin L. Svehla. Beloved
Step Daughter of Edward A. Simpson. Loving Wife of the late Daniel Martignon, JR. Beloved
Mother of Scott D.Halcomb (Deborah), Denise (Lee) Bacott and Donna (Rob) Owens.
Cherished Sister of Barbara Svehla Thomas. Dear Step Sister of Jan (Ray) Meibaum,
Barbara (Walt) Sabourin and Jerry (Kathy) Simpson. Dear Cousin of Katherine (Lloyd)
Wenger, Jo Ann (Cork) Roschel and Ray (Mary) Horst, Jr. Dear Niece of their parents, her
Aunt Doris Horst & Uncle Ray Horst, Sr. Dear Niece to Roberta, Paul, Alvin and
Bill Svehla.
Dear Grandmother of Faryn, Elric, Cirith, Saiya & Yvaine Halcomb; Jason (Kasey) Owens;
Alix (Nathan) Huffman; Joseph (Alissa) Hunt; Devin (Kevin) Mehegan; Jessica; Mary;
Melisa; Lee and Nate (Kelsie). Dear Great Grandmother of Kasen, Lexxi, Anlynn, Maevis,
Christian, Ava, Dex, Ellie, Brooks and Keira.
Linda Kay Martignon (nee Svehla) was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in St. Louis,
Missouri. Growing up, she was a Brownie and a Girlscout, played the viola and was a flag bearer
in The Aubuchon Drill Team Color Guard, She was a majorette through grade school and
high school, studied French and was a member of her high school French Club. She was a
Den Mother to her son Scott’s Cub Scout Pack.
Linda was a very talented dancer, studied jazz and modern dance and was one of the
Morlach Dancers in High School. She graduated from Cleveland High School and served as
Treasurer of her Business Sorority at Southeast Mo State University where she majored in
Business. She devoted her career to Southwestern Bell Telephone / AT&T where she met
her Husband Daniel Martignon, JR. Sailing at Carlyle Lake was one of Dan & Linda’s
favorite pastimes. She & Dan opened & managed their own Real Estate Company &
enjoyed many family gatherings at their Ranch. Linda loved to read, had an extensive
library and was a gifted writer from a young age, writing poetry and many heartfelt essays.
She loved history, art, antiques and Faberge Eggs and had a gift for interior decorating. She
embodied a great deal of compassion for others and was a major contributor to the Missouri
Girls Home in Kingdom City and the Saint Louis Zoo. She dearly loved her family, friends,
colleagues, neighbors, her Standard Poodle, Maggie and Maggie’s litter mate, Flash.
Linda is forever loved, forever admired and forever deeply missed.
