John was the loving husband of Theresa (nee McMahon) Alvey and the late Joanne (nee Mahler) Stacey; beloved father of Sarah (Gregory) Della Croce, Jason (Elizabeth) Stacey, Alicia Stacey, and Holly (Samuel) Mahler; devoted grandfather of Alexis Tounsand, Nicolas Della Croce, Ava Della Croce, Rylan Ditto, Jack Stacey, and Liam Mahler; dear brother of James Kelly; and a friend to many in his lifetime.
John was born in Saint Louis. He attended Roosevelt High School and O'Fallon Tech simultaneously. where he learned his trade as an electrician. He began working for the City of Saint Louis in 1973 and after 45 years, he retired as the Chief Electrical Inspector. Throughout his life, he was involved in the IAEI, IBEW, and NECA, and the Saint Louis Electrical Board.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, and being near or on the water. He liked getting away from the city and being in nature. John was funny, generous, and entertaining. He always said, "Keep Smilin" and hopes you will do the same.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated by his family.
