Jane Hunt Hasenpflug of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 in Roanoke, Texas at the age of 91. She was born to the late John and Jane Hunt in St. Louis, Missouri on February 3, 1932. Jane was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Jane graduated from Laboure High School in St. Louis in 1950 and St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1953. She married Harry Hasenpflug, Jr. on September 11, 1954 in St. Louis. Jane and Harry lived in many places including Fort Stockton, Plains, and Midland, Texas; St. Joseph, Morgan City and New Orleans, Louisiana; McComb, Columbus and Magee, Mississippi; and the Houston area for the last 57 years. She often worked as a Registered Nurse in the various locations in which they lived.
Jane was active in the Catholic parishes of St. Thomas More and St. Vincent DePaul in Houston and St. Laurence the Martyr, in Sugar Land, Texas. She was very proud of her 25 years of volunteer work with the Charity Guild of Catholic Women. Jane was also a member of the Day One Theresian Community for several decades.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Hasenpflug, Jr.; their sons, Jerome Hasenpflug and John Hasenpflug; her four brothers, William Hunt, Robert Hunt, John Hunt and George Hunt; and sister-in-law, Dolores Hunt.
Jane is survived by her son, James Hasenpflug and wife, Molly of Decatur, Texas; daughter-in-law, Debra Ullman and husband, Craig of Wharton, Texas; five grandchildren, Christopher Hasenpflug and wife, Tara of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Amanda Garraty and her husband, Brian of Paradise, Texas, Michael Hasenpflug and wife, Bailee, Matthew Hasenpflug, and Mitchell Hasenpflug all of Wharton, TX; sisters-in-law, Marie Hunt, Joanne Hunt and Cora Hunt; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Houston, visitation will begin at 9am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, Monday, January 22, 2024, in the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025. A reception will follow in the Msgr. Jamail Family Center.
In Saint Louis, a visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 9-10:30am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, St. Louis, MO 63109. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 5020 Rhodes Avenue St. Louis MO 63109. A Rite of Committal immediately following Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, 6900 Mackenzie Road, Saint Louis, MO 63123.
