Irv and I were in FDR AZA together in St. Louis.  He was a year older than I, but always friendly and nice to everyone.  We played poker many times together, sometimes all night.  He was someone of whom I had great respect.  A really good guy!

If this is the Irving Stein I remember, we went to Hamilton School together in the mid 1950's. I believe he lived on Waterman. I went to his birthday party, 5th I think. We watched Popeye on TV and debated what it meant when Bluto said something but crossed his fingers behind his back. I think Irving was right saying Bluto was lying. Irving and I crossed paths only a few times since grade school. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I am so sorry to hear about Irv's  death.
We were Frat Bros. at Mizzou and also room mates on 1100 Coats in Columbia. I am so thankful to be one of his many friends and grateful that my wife and I got to go to a Cardinal game with him and Helane a couple of years ago.I recall our midnight breakfasts at Denny's in Columbia, listening to Dave Mason songs which I will continue to play in your honor, and playing tennis.  Am so sorry I won't be seeing you in St.Louis again.

As Irv’s youngest cousin and being an only child myself, it was through Irv that I was introduced to the latest pop hits and TV shows – Louie Louie and Star Trek come to mind.  Through Irv and our cousin Steve, I was introduced to baseball and was allowed to attend Sunday afternoon games because I was in their care.  As remarked at today’s service, Irv loved collecting memorabilia more than attending games.  Even though his Aunt Ilse was in her 80’s and knew nothing about baseball, Irv took her to the ballpark, not to watch a game, but to stand in line with Irv so he could get an extra bobblehead.  Another memory triggered from today’s service was Irv’s love of plum pie.  After his mother had passed away, Irv continued to get his pie fix by asking his Aunt Ilse, every prune plum season around Rosh Hashanah, to bake him that special pie.

Irv, you will be missed by many, especially your close friends for so many years.  Rest In Peace 

I was another classmate of Irv's at UC.  When I saw the notice this morning it just took my breath away.   Didn't expect that, as anyone our "vintage" passing may be unexpected, but shouldn't be a surprise.  Irv was a special guy, always smiling & laughing.  He will certainly be missed by everyone who knew him.  RIP Irv!

RIP IS. Enjoyed being with you in recent years at happy occasions.

I had the pleasure of meeting Irv in college at Mizzou where we became friends.  Like the obituary states “ A Friend to Many” is so correct.  His dynamic and outgoing personality will not be forgotten 

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Irv... I knew him long before most people at the fraternity did.. We grew up on the same block and did a lot of growing up together ...We came from the days of being able to ride a bike to the park and play Indian ball or cork ball and especially race slot cars at a track at Hanley and Page... He had the fastest car at the track and everybody including myself was envious. He was a  very good person and obviously a friend to many. .RIP

Irv was also a classmate of mine at U. City High and at UMR, and a fellow brother in AEPi ... Irv had a fun laugh (more like a chuckle) and a warm smile ... he was a friendly sort, the kind I (and anyone) will miss.

Irv and I were classmates at U City High and UMR and were Pledge Brothers at AEPi.  He was a wonderful friend to all,  a true friend,  whose memory will live in our minds and in our hearts forever. 
May his memory be for a blessing! 

Irv was a fraternity brother, my little brother and exactly the type of person who defines what a brotherhood is.

Irv was a good soul and a warm and delightful human being.
