Windle, Daniel Edward, Sr., age 93, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. Anthony’s de Greeff Hospice House. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Anna Rose (Sissy) Windle (nee: Kieffer) who passed away in 2001.
He was born July 13, 1922 in St. Louis, son of the late Victor C. Windle and Veronica M. Windle (nee Taaffe).

Father of Patricia A. Timberman (Ramon), Daniel E. Windle, Jr. (Robbie), Kathleen G. Skarstad (David), Nancy J. Alles (Richard), Michael T. Windle (Rebecca), Deborah D. Jackson (David), James P. Windle (Sheila). Loving grandfather of 14; great-grandfather of 15 and great-great-grandfather of 3; dearest uncle, cousin and friend.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, parents, two brothers, Victor C. and Roy J., one sister, Grace Dahl, and a grandson, Richard M. Alles.
He served in the USAAF during World War II and retired in 1990 from McDonnell-Douglas. He was a passionate athlete and sports fan. Dan was Inducted into the Metro St. Louis Softball Hall of Fame in 1971 for being an outstanding fast pitch pitcher 1938-1967.
His loving heart, generosity, strength, and ability to make us laugh will be deeply missed. Our hearts already ache for one more day with him.
Memorial service will be held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:30 p.m., preceded by visitation 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Inurnment with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will be private.
