Carole Coppersmith Kalish, age 77 of St. Louis, Missouri passed away peacefully on April 7th surrounded by close family. Carole grew up in St. Louis, graduated from Ladue High School and then Montecello college in 1965 with a degree in art history. Her first job was clerking at Brown Shoe Company, where she worked until she married in 1968. She left to become a homemaker and to focus on what mattered to her the most, family. Once her children got older, she spent 12 years teaching preschool at Congregation Shaare Emeth.
She had a passion for sewing and spent some of her summers teaching sewing at a juvenille detention center. Carole loved cooking and entertaining. She was quick to bring meals to sick friends and to volunteer to host parties for her children and their friends.
She was an avid golfer, with her greatest golfing accomplishment being a hole-in-one. Most importantly, she had a heart of gold and had a strong loyalty and love for her family.
She is the wife of the late Robert Levitt; beloved mother and mother-in-law of Karin Rush (Darryl), Steve Levitt, and Betsy Kerner (Ben); dear grandmother of Macy Kerner, Addie Kerner, Elle Kerner, Caroline Rush, and Lillian Rush; daughter of the late Nate and Thelma Coppersmith.
Graveside service Tuesday, April 11th 2:00 PM at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 9215 Ladue Road.
