Bruce White, M.D. passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle against cancer. Bruce was born in Kansas City, Missouri, attended Beloit College, and graduated from Washington University Medical School.
Bruce completed his General Surgery training at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Plastic Surgery training at The Ohio State University, and went into private practice in St. Louis where he founded St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery, Inc. Bruce spent a rewarding year in Sa Dec, Vietnam during 1967-68, where he served as part of the Air Force’s medical health assistance program. In addition to his private practice, Bruce was very involved in the lobbying activities of the Plastic Surgery Society, traveling to Washington, DC annually on behalf of this effort.
Bruce was an avid athlete who loved running, swimming, rowing and weight training. He was often seen running shirtless down Wydown Blvd. in the freezing cold or driving with the top down on his convertible, rain or shine, summer or winter.
Bruce created much beauty in the world as he was known as a talented, compassionate cosmetic surgeon. He was devoted to his family and friends, his wife Ellen (Schneider) of 49 years, his son Daniel and daughter-in-law Jennifer Haro, his daughter Laura White, M.D. and son-in-law Bradley Levinson, and his brother David.
Special gratitude is expressed to the caregivers, Valencia, Darlene, Alicia, Janika and Cynthia who made Bruce comfortable as his illness progressed.
