Billy "Bill" Hulon Miller

He was 91 years old. A kindhearted and fun-loving husband, father and friend, Bill led a rich and full

life.

Born on Valentine’s Day, 1933, in Madison County, Tennessee, he worked with his family on the

farm. It was here that he developed his love of hunting and fishing. He joined the Tennessee

National Guard at the age of 17 and later the United States Air Force where he earned

commendations for his service in the Korean War while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1956,

he survived a plane crash at Scott Air Force Base, his final station in the service. It was in

nearby Granite City, IL where he met Roberta Seibold at a mixer, and they would soon be

married and start a family together.

Bill used the GI Bill to advance his education, he soon joined the Missouri Division of

Employment Security for which he worked for 30 years. While managing the Flat River office he

worked tirelessly to help people find employment and develop new industries after the mining

industry left the area. In addition, Bill served as Saint Francois County Commissioner for one

term. Along the way, he earned the eternal respect and gratitude of many people and made

many life long friends. After retirement from the state in 1990, Bill formed a development

company to rehabilitate homes in Farmington. He and his business partner worked to provide

people with decent, affordable housing. Later he joined his son Garen Miller in a joint

development venture in Sarasota, Florida which still operates today.

After moving to the Branson area Bill became an active member of the First Baptist Church of

Kimberling City and participated in many outreach and faith based charitable events.

Bill’s wife Roberta of over 50 years passed away in 2010. In 2011 he married Karen Stowe

Miller, and enjoyed a loving marriage until his death. He enjoyed his time and activities in

Branson along with baseball and hockey games with his son in St. Louis.

Bill is survived by wife Karen Stowe Miller, son Garen D. (Carla) Miller, and stepson Erik Stowe

as well as nieces, nephews, good friends and fellow congregates of the church.

He is preceded in death by first wife Roberta E. (Seibold) Miller, siblings Jerry Miller, Larry

Miller, Dorothy Spencer, Devaughon Miller and parents Hattie Louise (Nowell) Miller and George

Miller.

A remembrance service for Billy H. Miller will be held Saturday November 9th at the First

Baptist Church, 161 Heaven’s Way, Kimberling City, MO 65686 at 11:00AM. He will be interred

at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis on November 15th, at 12:30.
