I just found out that Mr. McDonald left this world during the holidays.  I was so sad to hear this news.  Being raised in Deux-Montagnes and employee of the city for over 38 years, many were the times I crossed his path... softball, Masons, scouts, etc.  A few years ago, he had given me a picture of our softball team in the '70's that I have attached.  Thank you for the memories.   I am sending my deepest condolences to his wife, family and many friends.  Rest in peace !  

In 1975, at 10 years old, I became the owner of a brand new stepmom.  She is a Macdonald and I suddenly found myself with a whole new extended family.  The patriarch of that extended family was uncle Neil.  We weren’t blood but uncle Neil always treated us as if we were.   He was one of my very favourite people, always a smile, a joke or a funny story; the kindest, most genuine person I’ve ever known.  In 2011 my dad died and we asked uncle Neil to do the eulogy.  My dad would have been so proud that the man he held in such high regard had such kind words to share.  

My deepest sympathy to his entire family.  I pray that your memories and stories of this wonderful man give you some comfort at this difficult time.

Unfortunately over my life I didn't have allot of contact with Uncle Neil and Aunt Arden, but many years ago he sent me a reply in the mail when I asked about our family history.  And over the last several years again we connected and I researched our family history and have since documented in Ancestry.ca  Many pictures and information is because of Uncle Neil's pride in family and I am honoured to carry on maintaining our Clan's proud lineage from Scotland and our Ancestral home in Glengarry county.  Proud of his service as a solider, legionnaire and Mason.  Cheers!

A great uncle to have, a great family man to look up to, a the person we most thought of as the patriarch of our Macdonald Clan here in Montreal throughout the years even when his older brothers were around. He and Arden have always been a constant team that we could look up to as what a family builder was and what a community participant was. From my early years as a kid, through fun times at Tamaracouta instructing that he talked me into and as his family enlarged and as did the families of his brothers and sister never did he let anyone ever feel left out. I am happy that I was able to make this past summer's event.
