Michael Lawrence Pokladek
March 11, 1988 – May 6, 2018
Michael passed away suddenly on May 6, 2018 (Age 30).
Beloved son of Walter and Carol Pokladek. Predeceased by his Grandparents (Walter and Bernice Pokladek & Jack and Barbara Doerr). Cherished brother of Christopher and Timothy. Loving nephew of Shirley Garofalo, Linda Doerr-Casebolt (Michael), and Robert (Jacqueline) Doerr and cousins Debra Garofalo (dear friend Michael Rodriguez), Zachary, Cecilia and Alex Doerr. Special Godparents - Frank & Beverly VanDamme.
Michael was a member of the John Paul Jones Society, Children of the American Revolution. He was a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School in 2006 and attended some college at Western Michigan University. Michael was involved in many sporting activities such as soccer, football, rowing (Detroit boat club crew team) cross country and track. He qualified for State finals for several years with the Grosse Pointe North High School team. “Long may he run!” Mike enjoyed biking, card games, disc golf and had a love for animals and gardening. He found an interest in history especially with our family’s ancestry and genealogy research. Mike was an avid reader and talented writer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Detroit, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 on Saturday, May 26, 2018 with Instate from 11:00am-12:00pm with Mass at 12:00pm.
