Audrey Kathleen Rafferty, age 90, of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. Audrey was born on September 1, 1933, to Herbert and Evelyn Moylan in Detroit, MI. Audrey met the love of her life, John Leo Rafferty Jr., and they were married on April 14th, 1956. Together they raised five sons and one daughter. Family was always the most important thing to Audrey. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play baseball, basketball, softball, and hockey. She was the best hockey/baseball mom/grandma, spiritedly cheering her family on and “educating” the referees and umpires. She never missed a dance recital or a band concert. John and Audrey enjoyed traveling including many family trips to northern Michigan, Ireland, Hawaii, and later to Savannah to visit their daughter and son-in-law. Audrey loved a great party, enjoyed playing games and was an avid sports fan. She was a longtime member of the SCS Moose Lodge, the SCS Elks Club, and the Lodells. She enjoyed going on casino trips and hanging out with countless friends.
Audrey is survived by her beloved husband John, cherished children Kevin (Cheryl) Rafferty, John (Jane) Rafferty, Tim (Angie) Rafferty, Mike (Jen) Rafferty, Keith Rafferty, Kathleen (Michael) Schratz, 14 beloved grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, dear sister Shirley (Stu) Schwab, beloved brothers and sister- in- law Charlene (Jeff) Farkas, Dennis (Kathy) Rafferty, Brian (Sandy) Rafferty, Randi Rafferty, Margaret (Ray) Maes, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Audrey joins in heaven her loving parents Herbert and Evelyn Moylan, parents-in-law John Leo and Christine Rafferty, brothers-and sisters-in-law Jim and Jackie Rafferty, Christine Rafferty, David Rafferty, and great grandson Aiden Krueger. Audrey will be forever remembered by all who loved her.
Visitation will take place Saturday September 30, 2023, beginning at 3:00 pm, until time of service at 7:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s memory can be made to Blessed Solanus Casey (https://www.solanuscasey.org) and to the Krueger Hat Trick Foundation (www.thekht.org) in loving memory of her beloved great-grandson.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
