Shirley Joyce Junkin

In loving memory and with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Shirley. She will be happily reunited with the love of her life Alex, mother Alice, father Norman Sr., and beloved brother Norman Jr. The four of them were very close. She will also be with her beloved Auntie Kilpatrick who raised her mom, her favorite aunt Clara Jarrett and uncles Tom, Jim and Harry Williamson and longtime companion Frank Sampson and dear friend Dorothy Erickson. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Joyce Hunt, nephews Dr. Donald and Louise Hunt and Dave and Brenda Hunt. Great nephews Scott, Bryan, Greg/Marion and Jeff/Dawn. Great/great nephews and nieces, Hana, Alexander, Karina, Melanie, Naia, Lucian, Jacob and Jadynn. Cousin Kathy Wiles, dear friends Kimberley Kis, Geoff/Kathy Hewitt (Frank's nephew).

Shirley had worked for Bell Canada from the time she left school until she retired. She retired early so she could be with her retired husband Alex. She loved her games of Golf with all her friends and the 19th hole after for cocktails and friendly conversations. She also loved her girl's night out for suppers and drinks with what I call the four horse-ladies as they always seemed to be together, Dorothy, Kim, Barb and Shirl.

Shirley never had any children of her own but considered Don and Dave as her children and spoiled them "a bit", well maybe a lot. We loved it and Deed (we called her) bought me, my first two-wheeler.

Shirley had a fall out front of her condo in October 2021 and broke her hip and after getting out of the hospital was sent to the Hotel Dieu Shaver for rehabilitation. She got home a few days before Christmas and after two days had a stroke. Back to the Hospital and then to Hotel Dieu Shavers again.

Unfortunately, Shirley could not be rehabilitated and had to go into a long­ term care home that was available at the time. Blackadar Continuing care home and it was a terrible place. Got her into Cama Woodlands in · Burlington as soon as we could and it's a great place with great staff. She was well liked and cared for by everyone. If I must go into a L.T.C.H, I hope it's there.

Shirley will always be remembered as a loving and caring person by all of us and we know she is in a happy place with all her friends and family who have gone before her. God love you.
