Formerly of 1 Caroline Street, dearly loved by her family and friends, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2015 at the Niagara Health System. Born on April 25, 1924, in Kingston, Ont., Margaret just celebrated her 91st birthday, surrounded by her family and friends. Margaret was a devoted and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was beloved by her late husband W. Bruce Wood, and her late son Bill (Woody) Wood. She is survived by her daughter Susan D’Ambrosio, son-in-law Gerald, grandchildren, Tari Gough, Marc Wood, Kelly Wood VandeKraats, Jocelyn D’Ambrosio and Justin D’Ambrosio, and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jewelia, Spencer, Hannah, Miles, Macy, and Ava. She was predeceased by her parents, Reginald Gurney and Beatrice Arneil, and her sisters, Erminie Quinlan, Constance Allison, Catharine Watt, and Ruth Clark. Margaret was a dedicated employee of the Urology Clinic, where she worked for 40 years, right up until a few weeks before her 91st birthday. She also was a long time member of St. Thomas Church where she took an active role as “Akela” of a scout troop and served many years as the Sunday School Superintendent. Margaret touched the lives of many. Over the years, her family grew to include friends and other loved ones who called on her for support. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario Street, St. Catharines on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at 3:00 pm.
