Kathleen Miriam Rose

1935-2024

Kathleen passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024, in Niagara Falls, ON, at the age of 89. Born on Tuesday, April 16, 1935, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, she was the beloved daughter of Edward and Hilda Webb. Kathleen was a cherished mother to Michael Scheel (predeceased), Steven Scheel (predeceased), and Kevin Scheel (predeceased). She took great pride in being the grandmother of Tiffany (predeceased), Steven Jr., Kaylee, Nathan, and Emily, as well as a great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren. Kathleen was a loving sister to Edward Webb (predeceased) and is survived by nieces and nephews in both the U.K. and Canada.

A proud seamstress, Kathleen began her career in Ipswich, U.K., before moving on to Phillips & Piper. In the 1950s, she married Elmer Scheel, an American Airman stationed at RAF Woodbridge, with whom she had three sons: Michael, Steven, and Kevin. The family later moved to the U.S.A. In the 1980s, Kathleen settled permanently in Ontario, Canada, and remarried Austin Rose on May 2, 1995, remaining together until 2018.

A devout Catholic, Kathleen integrated her faith into her daily life. She was renowned for her exceptional sewing skills and had a passion for gardening. Additionally, she was a strong advocate for the less fortunate, dedicating many years as a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which assists people in need at a grassroots level. Independent by nature, Kathleen was a caring and loving person, well-liked wherever she went, and touched many lives throughout her journey. She will be deeply missed.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the staff at The Salvation Army Eventide Home for their love and support during Kathleen's time with them. A Memorial Mass will be held in the spring next year.
