Andy was born Aug.5, 1941 in Poznan Poland. His family left Poland during the 2nd World War and moved to Germany. In 1949 they came to Canada by ship (Samaria) to Halifax and by train to Toronto where his parents started their restaurant in Cabbagetown. He inherited his love of cooking from his mother.
During his Ryerson years in Toronto he worked part time for the CNR as a waiter and steward to help finance his education. He graduated from Ryerson in chemical engineering and accepted a job at Jordan Wines-first as assistant winemaker and then winemaker.
After meeting Gary and Bob Woodbury Andy helped them set up a small cottage winery Woodbury Vineyards in New York state. He worked there as a winemaker and V.P. of production and won many local and international wine awards.
Andy’s passion was wine, food, sailing, hiking, gardening, reading on the internet for countless hours especially on natural health remedies and politics ,ending his evenings watching good movies.
His family meant the world to him and always said how blessed he was to have 2 wonderful daughters, son-in-laws and 4 adorable grandchildren. Andy and Mara were married 52 years.
Andy was a very special, generous and kind person always giving us good advice and life will not be the same without him.
