Shirley Mae Beger

Shirley Mae Beger passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 94. She was born on February 7, 1929 in St. Louis, and was the daughter of the late Henry V. and Mildred R. (nee Oliver)Hohman. Shirley Mae was preceded in death by her sister Margaret, her brothers Bill and Bob, and her loving husband Melvin.

After graduating from Ritenour High School in 1947, Shirley Mae Hohman met Melvin C. Beger. They were married in 1949 and together raised five boys in Overland, MO. Shirley began a 20 year career working at Esmare Products in Overland around 1965 where she established lifelong friendships.

Shirley Mae had a zest for life, enjoying time with her family and friends, camping, taking boat rides on the river, traveling, bowling, exploring garage sales, playing card games, visiting casinos, and doting on her canine companions. She was a proud member of the Shirley Club and the Overland Historical Society.

She is survived by her five sons: Tom (Shelly) of Overland, Jon (Jan) of Affton, Larry of Overland, Bill (Julie) of St. Charles, and Tim (Eleanor) of Scottsdale, AZ, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A celebration of Shirley Mae's life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home and Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann, Missouri.
