Muriel Kay Haynes, 80, passed away peacefully at home on May 8th, 2024. She was born to Ciscero Storey and Lois Suttles Storey on October 5th, 1943 in Dalton, Georgia. After graduating high school, Muriel joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC), the women's branch of the United States Army. Women's Army Corps (WAC) was created during World War II to provide women office and clerical jobs in the Army. Muriel later worked in retail and home health care. In 1991, Muriel joined the Army Reserves Task Force in support of the Gulf War that moved her to St. Louis, Missouri where she eventually made her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ciscero and Lois Storey, several sisters and a brother.
Survivors are her loving family, 4 daughters, Muriel Haynes, Margaret (Steven) Speray, Lisa Gonzales, Maria (Dwight) Overstreet, 5 grandchildren, Michael Gonzales, Mariah Gonzales, Xaveria Speray, Ignatia Speray, Dominic Speray, 2 great grandchildren, Michael Gonzales Jr., Niomi Gonzales, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and Funeral for Muriel Haynes will be held at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home on Monday, May 20th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with internment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery to follow at 1:30 PM.
