Frederick William "Joe" Ochs, age 86, of Saint Ann, Missouri, formerly Perryville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born September 12, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Fred Francis "Fritz" and Catherine Agnes (nee: Bader) Ochs. They have preceded him in death, as has his loving wife Mary Judith (nee: Wibbenmeyer) of 62 years, his daughter Mary Cyrilla Ochs, his grandson Samuel Charles Ochs, and his siblings Jimmy Ochs and Sherry Morris. Joe is survived by: his children, Dean (Donna) Ochs, Todd (Melinda) Ochs, Michael (Mary) Ochs, Angela (Dan) Smith; his grandchildren, Joshua (Laura) Ochs, Courtney Oliver, Nicholas (Julia) Ochs, Jordan (Ashley) Smith, Bailey (Andrew) Buhr, Micah (Josh) Scalf, Peyton (Nathan) Brown, Sarah Smith, Anna (James) Denton, Jacob Ochs, Elijah (Olivia) Ochs, Faith (Austin) Phillips, Olivia (Nick) Newman; his great-grandchildren: Bryce Emmons, Liam Ochs, Jackson Ochs, Lilly Ochs, Ava Buhr, Felix Ochs, Vivian Brown, Waylon Brown, William Brown, Lane Phillips, Rhett Phillips, Colton Smith, Brynlee Smith, Willow Ochs, Cohen Oliver; his siblings: Catherine "Sue" (Doug) Dunker, Sharolyn "Snooks" LaRose Brown, John (Phyliss) Ochs, Sallie (Matt) Mapes, Shelley (Keith) Moeckel; nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Fred proudly served in the US Navy and will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water. In his job as a self-employed general contractor, he found purpose and worked with excellence. His free time was often spent woodworking and deer hunting, yet even more important to him was spending time with his family. As a father and grandfather, he was a beacon of love and wisdom, and his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. Through it all, he was a faithful and devoted servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ. His faith was a light to his path, guiding him through life with grace and strength.
A visitation for Frederick will occur on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, MO 63386. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the exact location.
The family is accepting donations to honor Frederick's memory by purchasing a memorial brick at the Perry County Military Museum. Contributions can be made by writing a check to the Perry County Military Museum c/o Mary Ochs, 9051 North State Street, West Alton, MO 63386. The brick purchased will be placed on a wall that honors all veterans at Perryville Park.
