Mrs. Yuen Fung Chu Wang was my great-aunt, my da nai nai, and I've always thought of her as my American grandma. She molded my identity from the time I arrived in the US. She gave me my English name, took me through "Hooked on Phonics", told me stories about American history. I visited during every school break. We read the Sunday comics, went to the White House Easter Egg Hunt, and she spoiled me at Christmas.

Da ye ye and da nai nai lived fearlessly and traveled far, and I've learned so much from the way they lived their lives. They did not let setbacks stop them. Decades ago, no one would sell a house to them because they were Chinese. This did not prevent them from becoming homeowners! They just rolled up their sleeves and built their house with their own hands. They worked hard throughout their lives, building a company that was instrumental in US-China relations. They were good to their relatives, helping many of us come to the US.

Da nai nai lived life unapologetically and uncompromisingly. She was a great admirer of beauty and loved flowers and painting. She was serious about learning, never stopping at just "good enough". She cared very much about people and their well-being, and the impact of government and politics on the ordinary people. She had an amazing sense of humor and was an incredible storyteller.

To the very end, da nai nai lived her life as she wanted. She did not live her last months in fear of what the future might bring, but set out to do what she most loved. Her life was well-lived, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to know her and love her.

I love you and celebrate you, da nai nai. You will never be forgotten.

Dear Beloved Mrs. Wang,
It has been sadness, painful since you left us.
But we are happy because you are with Dr. Wang and your son together in heaven now.
You and Dr. Wang have set a great example to our family. Your achievement, success will encourage all of us in our work & life.  You and Dr. Wang have a glorious life and sponsored us coming to USA to study. That changed our life. 
There are so many things we need to say and so many wonderful get together times we never forget.
We will cherish the memories forever. You & Dr. Wang will always living in our heart.

Dr. And Mrs. Wang came into my life when I was 25, more than three and a half decades ago.  They embraced me as not only their secretary, but as a trusted member of their extended family.  I drew inspiration from both of them.  Mrs. Wang will always remain, in my heart, as the perfect role model for beauty,  grace, intelligence, curiosity, strength, and above all, compassion.  when my world fell apart in 2012, it was Mrs.  Wang's words and belief in me that gave me the momentum to continue through great adversity.  I keep these written words in a coveted place, just as the memories of Mrs. Wang remain etched on my heart forever.

I send my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to all of you, and may the love of friends and family comfort you during this time.  Mrs. Wang was truly an inspiration to me, a very amazing woman, and she lived a full and remarkable life.  I feel very honored to have been the first secretary for the International Corporation of America, and to have worked so closely with both Mrs. Wang and Dr. Wang.  They both treated me like a daughter, and always made me feel like part of the family.  I had a wonderful career with them and encountered many interesting experiences along the way, and I learned a great deal from both of them.  They were both amazing people.
