Colonel Andrew Benedict Witko (United States Army, Retired) was born to eternal life October 26, 2014. From Whiting, Indiana, he was eighty-nine years of age. He entered the military as a graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point Class of 1948). He earned a Master's of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and also graduated from the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and served as a diplomat to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels, Belgium.
He was a devoted husband (sixty years of marriage to the deceased Maria del Pilar Witko) and family man. He leaves behind two sisters Jan (and Joe) Gigliotti and Rosemary (and Charles) Kaut. He also leaves behind four children: Son - Andrew (Drew) F. Witko; Son - Lawrence (Larry) S. Witko & David F. Willox; Son - Jeffrey (Jeff) A. & Mary W. Witko; and Daughter – Maria W. Snyder & Tony L. Snyder. In addition, he has three grandchildren: Alexander, Catherine and Elizabeth Witko.
