Cecil James Roy

Cecil Roy, 67, husband, father, and proud Grandpa from Colonial Beach, VA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 20, 2023, surrounded by his family. He adored his family and was adored by his family. He loved his country and was so proud to have served it. He was full of life, warmth, and most of all cared for the well-being of those around him. Cecil’s kindness was infectious, his laugh would fill the room with joy, and he wore his pride for his family on his sleeve.

Cecil is survived by his beloved wife of almost 42 years, Ewa Roy, his loving children Jessica Sitcovsky and her husband David and Eric Roy and his wife Amanda. His 5 grandchildren Julia Sitcovsky, Tillie Sitcovsky, Sophia Roy, Victoria Roy, and Raegan Roy, who love their Grandpa dearly. His mother-in-law Wiktoria Pinda, sister-in law Barbara Salek and her partner Robert Thiesfield, sister-in-law Iwona Dominguez and her husband Alvaro. His nieces Heather Roy and her son Gabriel, Ursula Owens and husband Chad, Lisa Lotko and husband Kris, Stefanie Dominguez, Gabriella Dominguez, and Katarina Dominguez. He also leaves behind many cousins in US and Canada. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, and nephew.

Cecil was born in Springfield, MA and grew up in Enfield, CT. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service, Cecil began a career in aerospace manufacturing and engineering that spanned nearly four decades and three states (and multiple places within those states), establishing lasting friendships with colleagues all along the way.

Cecil worked extraordinarily hard throughout his life and with the exception of bad calls by the refs in whatever sports game he was watching, you seldom would hear him complain. He was passionate about history, his sports teams, and his faith. He looked at the world with a sense of optimism, encouragement for others, and a desire to always see and do more.

More than anything Cecil loved his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, best friend, and dance partner, Ewa, an amazing Dad, and the best Grandpa any kid could ever ask for. He was so excited to have retired and moved closer to his grandkids last year. The memories he made with his grandchildren especially over the past year will be treasures that they will cherish forever.

Words cannot capture how much Cecil will be missed by all that knew and loved him. His memory will forever be a blessing.

Friends and relatives may call on, Monday, March 6, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA. A Mass celebrating Cecil’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church in Alexandria, VA. A Christian Burial will follow at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors.
