Vivian received her degree in nursing from Wendell Phillips Nursing School in St. Louis, Missouri. She worked as a nurse in St. Louis, Peoria, Illinois, Memorial Hospital in Springfield and Baltimore, Maryland.
Mrs. Bird retired from nursing in Baltimore and moved to Springfield where she was the sound operator for the Illinois Senate and she later took blood pressure for the Springfield Health Department. She also did volunteer work for Senator Durbin and the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery. Vivian loved inspiring young people and enjoyed traveling, she had visited almost every state in the country.
She is survived by her god children: Robert and Carolyn Blackwell, Sandee Sims, and Elaine Cummings Blanks. She also leaves to cherish her memory special friends: Theresa Faith Cummings, Donna Jones, and her Sunny Acres family.
Cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday June 17, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Park.Memorial contributions may be made to the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery and please visit the online "Life Remembered Story" at www.bischfuneralhomewest.com.
