Teresa Kohlrus Clay, 95, of Springfield, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Heritage Manor. Teresa was born April 11, 1916 in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Huffman Kohlrus. She married Thomas Clay on August 17, 1933; he preceded her in death. Teresa worked as a nurse's aide at St. John's Hospital for 23 years. She was a life-long member of the Springfield community and a member of St. Aloysius for 32 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others and was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carol Johnson; grandson, Joseph Clay; five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three sons, Thomas (wife, Angie) Clay of Tempe, AZ, Edward (wife, Judith) Clay of Springfield, and Richard (wife, Claudia) Clay of Bloomington, IN; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one brother, John Kohlrus of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
