Sally Elaine Ushman

She was born on June 18, 1945 in Springfield, the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Flood) Fox. She married Tony Ushman, Jr. on May 16, 1998 in Springfield and he preceded her in death.

Sally worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for over 20 years. She was an avid reader, loved garage sales, was a big John Wayne fan and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had been a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (husband Robert) LaPenna of Havertown, PA, Margaret (husband Keith) Mefford of Divernon, IL, Pamela (husband Brad) Risinger of Dawson, IL, and Jim (wife Rhonda) Massey of Pleasant Plains, IL; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brother Jim (wife Barb) Fox of Peoria, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, James E. Smith and Larry L. Smith, Jr.; a daughter Dorothy Boblitt; and a sister Judy Nowlin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 9 AM until time of the funeral service at 10:30 AM.

The funeral service will also be at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
