Ronald P. Reynolds

Ronald P. Reynolds, 75, of Springfield, died at 6:34 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home. Ron was born March 28, 1943 in Evansville, IN, the son of Charles and Jonelle (Barth) Reynolds. He was raised by his grandmother, Florence Reynolds. He married Nancy Bowman on April 17, 1999 in Destin, FL. Ron was a 1961 graduate of Booneville High School in Booneville, IN. He earned a bachelors degree from the University of Indiana and earned a masters degree from the University of Indiana at Indianapolis. Ron worked for the Department of Children and Family Services in 1966, first working in Jacksonville and later in Springfield. He retired in 2000. He was an early member of the Illinois Central Blues Club. Ron was passionate about genealogy and enjoyed reading, fishing, and auctioning. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and half-brother, Joe Reynolds. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Springfield; sons, Phil Reynolds of Nacogdoches, TX and Willis S. Reynolds of Chicago; step-son, Christopher Wassell of Springfield; step-daughter, Michele (Troy) Stevens of Springfield; grandchildren, Kayla (Jeremy) Lingard, Rachel Reynolds, Cassie and Bailey Wassell, and Parker Stevens; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Lingard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. The family will host a memorial gathering from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 2645 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield.
