Robert Allen Taylor

Robert Allen Taylor, 74, of Springfield, passed away on June 16, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on March 30, 1947 in Springfield to William A. Taylor and Maxine Hughes. Robert married Linda Hogue on October 18, 1966 in Springfield and they later divorced.

Mr. Taylor is survived by two daughters: Shannon (Scott) Thompson of Farmington, IL., and Corey (Jeff) Taylor-Niggemeyer of New Berlin, four grandchildren: Taylor and Calvin Thompson and Austin and Nicholette Niggemeyer, one step-brother Robert Cummings and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother Richard Taylor.

Robert was a US Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam on the USS LST. He worked as a machine operator for the State of Illinois for over twenty five years. Robert was a member of the D.A.V., the V.F.W., the American Legion, the Athens Moose Lodge and Harvard Park Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday June 25, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road.
