Robert G. F. Hanner, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. John's Hospice. Robert was born December 15, 1923 in Springfield, the son of Ralph E. and Birdie M. Long Hanner. He married Marjorie Jordan on August 23, 1947 in Springfield. Robert graduated from Springfield High in 1942 and attended LLCC and Sangamon State. He served his country during WWII from 1944-1946 in the Army. Robert worked as an accountant for George A. Mueller Company for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion Post 32, Elks Club and a member and Past Master of A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge # 4. He volunteered at Sangamon Auditorium, for Meals on Wheels and in various capacities at Grace Lutheran Church. Robert enjoyed playing golf, bridge and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Kornack. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Springfield; two daughters, Rhonda (husband, Robert) Berberet and Stacey L. Splain, both of Springfield; four grandchildren, Brad Berberet of Chicago, Brian Berberet of Birmingham, AL, Jennifer Splain (fianc Sean O'Connor) and Brittany Splain, both of Springfield; a sister, Helen Taylor of Memphis, TN and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:30 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Masonic rites wil be held at 6:45 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church, 714 E. Capitol Ave., Springfield, with Revs. Thomas Christell and Juli Guy officiating. Burial will be held following the ceremony at 2:00 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
