He was born on November 19, 1944 in Abilene, TX, the son of the late Melvin L. and Helen M. (Barkley) Lodge. He married Elaine Puls on September 18, 1965 in Lawndale, CA and she survives.
Michael worked as a draftsman for the Eastern Municipal Water District in Riverside County, CA for many years until his retirement. He was a member at First United Methodist Church in Springfield.
Besides his wife Elaine, Michael is survived by his 4 children, Randy (wife Michelle) Lodge, Cherie (husband George, Jr.) Forsyth, Tanya Lodge, and Laurie (husband Jeremy) Brewer; 5 grandchildren, Jacob (wife Mackenzie) Considine, Daniel Considine, Kailee Brewer, Dimitri Brewer, and Londynn Brewer; and 1 great-grandson Beau Considine.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 2 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with Rev. Justin Snider officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
Celebration of Life will immediately follow services at VFW, 2349 Stockyard Rd, Springfield, IL 62702.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Springfield or to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
