She was born on August 30, 1952 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of the late Earl J. and Rhoda Mae (Dowdell) McMillen.
Marilyn graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1970 and went on to graduate from Hardin Business School, later earning continuing education credits in accounting at Lincoln Land Community College.
She worked as a Bookkeeper in the Jacksonville City Clerk's Office for many years and later was a claims processor, service rep, and trainer for BlueCross BlueShield. She moved to Springfield in 2011 to work for Hospital Sisters Health System, where she worked until her death.
Marilyn is survived by her ex-husband Edward Standley of Springfield; 2 sons, Michael (wife Joy) Standley of Springfield and David (wife April) Standley of Chatham, IL; 5 grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Joshua, Henry, and Ella Standley; and her sister Marsha (husband Chuck) Norris of Mt. Auburn, IL.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Diana Ahrens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield where a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
